Technology and Innovation in the Treatment of Children and Adolescents, 3 CE
Presented by Bryan D. Carter, Ph.D.

Children and teens are technology savvy, and clinicians can benefit their therapeutic work with pediatric populations by integrating digital technologies into their practice. This workshop will provide the attendee with an overview of digital technologies, including the use of video (viewing and creating), clinical biofeedback, and smart phone and tablet apps, that can be integrated into evidence-based treatments in clinical child and pediatric psychological practice.   Skill Level: Intermediate

Workshop Objectives

  • The attendee will understand the social learning principles supporting the application of digital and video technologies in the treatment of child and adolescent psychological and health conditions.

  • The attendee will acquire intermediate level understanding of the video equipment needed to establish recording, editing and playback for use in sessions with children and adolescents as well as the legal consent procedures necessary for the application of this technology.

  • The attendee will acquire basic knowledge of clinical biofeedback equipment and procedures and their application in the treatment of a number of child and adolescent psychological and medical conditions.

  • The attendee acquire knowledge of a wide variety of smart phone and tablet based apps that can be applied in the treatment a number of child and adolescent psychological and medical conditions.

About the Presenter


Dr. Bryan Carter is Professor of Pediatrics, University of Louisville School of Medicine; Service Chief of the Pediatric Consultation-Liaison Service to Kosair Children's Hospital; and Director of Training for the Predoctoral Internship and Postdoctoral Fellowship programs in the Division of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry & Psychology. He is the first recipient of the APA Division 54 Carolyn S. Schroeder Award for Excellence in Clinical Practice of Pediatric Psychology. His research focus has been on pediatric consultation-liaison and treatment of chronic pain in pediatric patients.

 

Audience

These presentations are intended primarily for Psychologists. Social Workers, other Mental Health Professionals and students are also encouraged to attend.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received on/before Feb. 10, 2017, will receive a 90% refund. Cancellations received between Feb. 11 - 13, 2017 will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations received on Feb. 14 - 16, 2017 will receive a 10% refund. No refunds are available after Feb. 16, 2017.
