Open Call for CE Proposals for the 2017 KPA Convention and 2018 CE Calendar
KPA is now accepting proposals for consideration for the 2017 Convention and the 2018 KPA CE Calendar.

If you are interested in presenting a Continuing Education workshop, please complete the CE proposal form below. Your submitted CE proposal form will be sent to the appropriate Committee Chair for further review.

The KPA CE Review Committee will process the selected CE proposals for official CE credit approval using the materials submitted in and with this form. This material will be kept on file to document the format and intent of the CE event and also be the source for information to be used on the KPA website and/or in promotional materials. If your proposal is accepted, you will have an opportunity to make revisions at a later date.

After you have submitted the CE proposal form, please email a copy of each additional presenter's curriculum vita to kpa@kpa.org at your earliest convenience (if applicable).

Have a suggestion for a workshop? Enter your suggestions for workshop topics and/or presenters that interest you in the CE Suggestion Box: https://kpa.site-ym.com/?CESuggestionBox .

Provide contact information for the Primary Presenter to include full name and degree, as you would want it to appear on KPA's website and/or in promotional materials.

-Beginning: Useful for psychologists new to this field; preparation stage at which practitioners develop the skills to begin implementation.

-Intermediate: Useful for psychologists with limited experience in this field; management stage at which practitioners learn to master the required tasks for implementation.

-Advanced: Useful for psychologists with extensive experience in this field; refinement stage at which practitioners vary the use of practices to achieve maximum impact.
Please provide a BRIEF (2 or 3 sentence) description of your proposed presentation that would be appropriate for inclusion on KPA's website and/or in promotional materials.

Workshops selected for the upcoming CE Calendar will be evaluated by the KPA CE Review Committee as to their suitability for Continuing Education credit using the criterion established by the Kentucky Board of Examiners of Psychology in KRS 319.032, Section 1:

"Continuing education shall mean participation in approved programs beyond the basic educational requirements that provide specific content planned and evaluated to improve the license or certificate holder's professional competence, make possible acquisition of new skills and knowledge required to maintain competence, and strengthen the habits of critical inquiry and balanced judgment.”

State the major learning objectives of the presentation in behavioral terms. Use active verbs (demonstrate, identify, utilize, apply, etc.) Rule of thumb: List 2 objectives for a 1-1/2 hour workshop, 4 objectives for a half day workshop, and 7 for a full day workshop. Please try to be concise; if too lengthy, they will be edited for use in promotional materials. Think in terms of NEW skills or knowledge the participant will have upon completion of the presentation.

Will you gain financially by the sale of any product or publication as a result of this workshop? If yes, please explain below.

Please note, while the presentations are not to be used as opportunities for commercial advancement, it is not necessarily inappropriate for you to obtain some indirect financial benefit from presenting. It is important, however, that the CE Committee be fully informed. If you plan to incorporate a product (e.g., book, game, assessment, instrument, computer program) as a part of the workshop presentation, please describe the item below.
If you are presenting information about your practice or research: Has privacy been safeguarded? (e.g. videotapes or case histories in which identities must be disguised, etc.)
If you are presenting material which participants may find stressful, will you be available for debriefing?
Instructors who may be presenting objectionable or upsetting materials need to give a warning to attendees before or at the beginning of the presentation. Describe the ways in which you will handle this situation.

PLEASE READ: KPA Volunteer Speaker Agreement (link opens in a new window)

The CE Program Development Committee is judicious in selecting well-respected local presenters or nationally well-known and esteemed featured speakers. The CE Review Committee carefully monitors the CVs of proposed presenters and disallows any presentations in which they feel the qualifications and background are not consistent with empirically-validated approaches. Presenters must attest the following; "I have subscribed to and supported the objectives of the American Psychological Association as set forth in Article I of the Bylaws, and the Ethical Principles of Psychologists, as adopted by the Association” To further clarify expectations, KPA has recently expanded the above statement to include the following:

The Kentucky Psychological Association is approved by the American Psychological Association as a sponsor of continuing education for psychologists, therefore, we must require that your presentation meet the following requirements established by the APA Sponsor Approval System.

  1. Program must adhere to the principles set forth in the American Psychological Association "Ethical Principles of Psychologists”.
  2. Program must include statements that describe the accuracy and utility of the materials presented, the basis of such statements, the limitations of the content being taught, and the severe and most common risks.
  3. Program must include as assessment of learning at the conclusion of the presentation. This may be in the form of a formal learning assessment and/or informal discussion to determine if your audience has learned what you intended to teach.
